The Super Collection is tempting - would be nice to not have to boot into Windows to play Sims - but after experiencing the full experience with all the EPs and SPs (I especially like the IKEA SP and Freetime SP haven't tried out Apartment Life apartments yet), not sure if I can adjust to a less than full experience. Haven't had much trouble with the Ultimate Collection on my Windows partition - but I'm running Win7 and refuse to go anywhere near Win8. Oh, and remember to trash your Group.something (can't remember the name of the file since I trashed mine from last time I played). If you need any help with anything just holler. I'm glad Aspyr has remastered Sims 2 and I may have to buy it. EA was in talks apparently with Aspyr around the time of BV, but they fell through. Stuff Packs were not even thought of at the time we only got FFS, GL and HH because EA contracted Aspyr to port Sim Castaways and Life Stories for console gaming and included it then. You see EA only contracted Aspyr to port 6 EP's as that is how many they thought they would make based off of the original Sims 1 series. There were still several Stuff Packs that should have been ported but were not. It didn't have anything to do with Sims 3 as the last item that was ported was Bon Voyage. The "Super Collection" is worth purchasing for Mac.ĮA didn't allow Aspyr to do more because The Sims 3 (Mac) was announced.Īspyr released the Mac version 6 months after EA.Īctually, it was a contract dispute. It's been re-coded to work with Mavericks, and it's run with Retina displays, at that native resolution. The game just released on the 7th of this month. Its exclusive to the Mac App Store so head over there for details. The Mac version is a straight up "remaster" of a sort. Aspyr has brought back the Sims 2 with updates for modern systems and lots of expansion content included. So does one version work better than the other? Especially if the Mac version is less buggy (plus I also have Sim City 4 Deluxe on my Mac I can use to make Worlds for Sims 2). I can sort of play it on my old Windows laptop, but it's laggy (considering it's using a very old Intel processor), but since I have several Windows games that cannot be played on a Mac, I am considering buying a cheap laptop for them (all old games-pre 2009) including Sims 2 and buying the Super Collection for the Mac.

I know some people are having trouble playing the Windows version in Windows 8 (wondering how that bodes for Sims 4) which is on pretty much every Windows computer released in the last couple of years. and other countries.Just out of curiosity, has anyone downloaded both the free Windows Sims 2 Ultimate Collection and the paid Mac Super Collection? I am wondering if one was done better than the other.
